Private Testicular (Scrotal) Ultrasound Scan

No GP referral needed. CQC rated Good. Over 30 years' experience. Written report within 24 hours.

A scrotal ultrasound examines the testes and the surrounding structures. It is the first-line test for lumps, swelling and discomfort in this area, and is quick, painless & discreet.

Common reasons for this scan:

  • A lump or swelling in the testicle or scrotum

  • A dull ache or heaviness in the scrotum

  • Suspected hydrocele, varicocele or cyst

  • Suspected epididymitis (inflammation)

  • A change in the size or feel of a testicle

  • Follow-up of a previous finding

How to prepare:

No preparation is needed.

What happens during the scan:

The scan usually takes around 15 to 20 minutes. You lie on your back and the sonographer applies warm gel to the scrotum. We will explain every step, and the scan is carried out with privacy and respect. A written report follows.

When to seek urgent help:

Sudden, severe testicular pain is an emergency, because the testicle may have twisted. Go to A&E immediately and do not wait for an appointment.

Price & Booking:

Single area scans start from £110 at our Lincoln and Nottingham clinics & £130 at our Cheltenham and Stratford Upon Avon clinics. Two areas are £199. Book online and choose the clinic and time that suit you, or call 07907 594411 if you would like to talk to us first.
