Private Hamstring Ultrasound Scan
No GP referral needed. CQC rated Good. Over 30 years' experience. Written report within 24 hours.
Ultrasound is one of the best tests for hamstring muscle & tendon injuries. It shows whether a hamstring strain is a minor tear or a more significant injury, where the tear is, and whether blood has collected in the muscle, which helps guide the rehabilitation and return to sport.
Common reasons for this scan:
-
Sudden pain at the back of the thigh during sport
-
Suspected hamstring tear or strain
-
Pain where the hamstring attaches under the buttock (proximal hamstring tendinopathy)
-
Bruising or a haematoma after a muscle injury
-
Monitoring how an injury is healing
How to prepare:
No preparation is needed. Please wear shorts or loose clothing that can be adjusted to expose the thigh.
What happens during the scan:
The scan usually takes around 20 to 30 minutes. The sonographer examines the muscle along its length and may ask you to tense the muscle while scanning. A written report follows.
