Private Lump and Soft Tissue Ultrasound Scan

No GP referral needed. CQC rated Good. Over 30 years' experience. Written report within 24 hours.

Ultrasound is often first test for a lump under the skin. It shows whether a lump is solid, fluid-filled or vascular, where it sits and how it relates to nearby structures, and it can often identify common, harmless lumps with confidence and other, more suspicious masses.

Common reasons for this scan:

  • A new lump or swelling under the skin

  • Suspected lipoma, ganglion or sebaceous (epidermoid) cyst

  • Swollen lymph nodes in the neck, armpit or groin

  • A lump that has changed in size or become painful

  • Swelling after an injury

  • Checking a lump that a doctor has already examined

How to prepare:

No preparation is needed. Please tell the sonographer where the lump is and when you first noticed it.

What happens during the scan:

The scan usually takes around 20 minutes. The sonographer examines the lump and the surrounding area. If anything about its appearance needs further assessment, we will explain this clearly and advise you on the next step.

When to seek urgent help:

A lump that is growing quickly, is hard and fixed, or comes with unexplained weight loss or night sweats should be seen by a doctor promptly, and not left until a scan appointment.

Price & Booking:

Single area scans start from £110 at our Lincoln and Nottingham clinics & £130 at our Cheltenham and Stratford Upon Avon clinics. Two areas are £199. Book online and choose the clinic and time that suit you, or call 07907 594411 if you would like to talk to us first.
